Bless You Boys

I found it! I've been looking for the 1984 Detroit Tigers anthem since I packed my stuff in Austin. Many of you in Detroit have asked me to post it and here it is, BLESS YOU BOYS! This song was recorded by Saturday Night Music Machine winner Curtis Gadson (sp) in 1984. It was played over and over during the Tigers run to the World Series title in 1984. It brings back great memories from "the day." Enjoy. Send it to radio station in Detroit and ask them to play it, they will.

The Phrase Bless you Boys was started by channel 4 TV anchor Al Akerman in 1983 as a put down for a team that lost more games than it won. Al then used it in 1984 when the Tigers launched the 1984 season with a 35-5 record. The 1983 team did finish above .500 but Al was expecting them to compete for the pennant.

This is the original song, Gadson did "Bless You Boys, Do it Again" in 1985. I have that too but haven't found it yet.
