YouTube Video Hack

Enter The Jdragon: "YouTube Video Hack

Ok, so you want to download videos from YouTube (or video sharing sites that serve FLV files) to your MacBook and view them locally and/or on your video iPod? Follow the below steps:

1. First, you have to use the Firefox internet browser.
2. Download and install the VideoDownloader extension for Firefox.
3. Download and install an FLV to MP4 convert iSquint from http://www.isquint.org

Ok, once you've done all of the above, you're ready to grab video's from YouTube. Let's do it:

1. Launch Firefox
2. Go to YouTube and find a video you like.
3. Once you're on the page of the video you're viewing, click on the little VideoDownloader icon located at the very lower right corner of Firefox. If you don't see it, then you haven't installed it!
4. A popup window will appear with download info of the video you're viewing.
5. Click on 'Download Link' and save the file to a folder on your machine. MAKE SURE YOU ASSIGN an extension .FLV to it. IMPORTANT NOTE: STOP THE VIDEO IF IT'S PLAYING OR LOAD A DIFFERENT YOUTUBE PAGE AFTER YOU'VE LAUNCHED THE VIDEOLOADER POPUP BECAUSE YOUR ISP MAY NOT ALLOW CONCURRENT DOWNLOAD OF FILES WITH THE SAME NAME.
6. Once the download has finished, launch iSquint.
7. Locate the FLV file from the Finder folder and drag it into the iSquint queue-like area.
8. For the Saving In section..click on Change and select the folder where you would like the converted video file to be stored.
9. Click on start and let iSquint do its magic.
10. Once it's done, you should see a new file with an extension .mp4 in the folder you specified above.
11. Double click on the file and Quicktime will load and play the video! Enjoy!
